Police Department History
The Bradley Beach Police Department proudly serves the Borough of Bradley Beach, New Jersey, a historic seaside community in Monmouth County. The Department’s roots date back to April 19, 1893, when the Borough created the office of Marshal and appointed Charles A. Bennett as its first marshal. The first sworn Chief of Police was Charles J. Poland in 1935. Since then, the Department has grown into a modern law enforcement agency committed to protecting residents, businesses, and visitors while preserving the safety and character of the Bradley Beach community. There have been a total of eight Police Chiefs in Bradley Beach.
